The ESPN National Golf Challenge can be a stand-alone tournament or incorporated into one of your existing events (such as a member-member or member-guest).
The opportunity to host a Local Qualifier includes the following benefits:
- $125,000 Total Pro Purse
- A chance for your members to compete in a nationally recognized program owned and operated by the biggest brands in sports, ESPN.
- Once your facility is registered you will receive promotional materials from ESPN
- Your facility will be listed on www.espngolf.com with a link back to your website
- You are eligible to receive the following cash incentive for hosting 60 or more players (cumulative) with the opportunity to host more than one event and accumulate players from each tournament.
- $500 from the Pro Purse for hosting 60-119 players and one person qualifies for the Club pro event
- $1,000 from the Pro Purse for hosting 120-179 players and two people qualify for the Club Pro event
- $1,500 from the Pro Purse for 180+ players and two people qualify for the Club pro event
- Sites that host 24-59 players may qualify to attend by following a team that advances to the National Finals from their local event
- If your course is one of the Top 10 Local Host Sites, you qualify for Free Room Nights* at our official Host Hotel
* Room Night winners must attend the National Finals to receive the room nights - If you host 120 players at your local site, you are guaranteed to have one team advance to the National Finals.
* If none of your teams advance to the National Finals out of a Regional, you will be eligible to select one team, (based on your own pre-determined criteria) to advance. You must confirm this team with us promptly after the Regional Finals for your section and they may be from any one of the three divisions.
How to Host:
Register on our website with your course information and your contact information. You will need to choose a date to host your event before your course will be eligible to go live on our website with a link back to your facility webpage.
We will call you promptly after your registration to confirm your information and prepare your Resource Book with our promo materials. These include posters, window clings, and all the forms and documents you will need for your event.
Entry Fee:
Standard: $25 entry fee per player plus additional green & cart fees as required by your course.
Triple Play: If offered by your local site and for an additional $25, you can triple your chances to advance to the Regional Finals. For a $50 total spend, you have three partners instead of one.
Additional Information on the Triple Play option:
| I can partner with a person playing in another group? | Yes, Providing that person also elects to partner with you and has paid the additional fee. |
| How would I partner with someone in a different group? | In a perfect world all players would be in the same foursome, however some courses will require your group to split into twosomes and play with other teams for validating the scoring.If this is the case, at the end of your round the Host Tournament Director can calculate your results with your partners in another group by matching the scorecards. |
| Can I win with more than one partner? | Yes, it is possible for you to win with more than one partner, depending on how many Regional spots are offered that day.Additional Regional spots are authorized to the Local Host Site specifically for this circumstance. |
| Can I advance to the regionals with more than 1 partner? | No. You will have to make a choice of one partner and the player left in the other winning position is allowed to choose a substitute for you. |
| Will this reduce the number of other teams that can advance to the Regional Finals from my Local Host Site? | No. Actually your Local Host Site will have the authority to advance additional teams should this occur. |
